Nestled in southern British Columbia (BC), the Kootenay region is just north of the BC-Idaho/Washington border and east of the Purcell/Selkirk Mountains and west of Monashee Mountains and the Arrow Lakes chain.
The Kootenay’s are re-known for their awesome fishing adventures with trophy sized lake trout in most of the larger lakes. The unique “Gerrard” Rainbow trout found no where else in the world resides here with sizes ranging from 15-40 pounds. Truly a magnificent experience for any freshwater angler.
Some of the more popular lakes and rivers to fish are Box Lake, Campbell Lake, Champion Lakes, Cherry Lake, Columbia River, Elk River, Kootenay Lake, Lower Arrow Lake, Mitten Lake, Premier Lake, Rosebud Lake, Slocan Lake, Summit Lake, Wilbur Lake, Windemere Lake, Whiteswan Lake and Whitetail Lake to name a few.
